And his followers were quick to show their support for Sly’s new look. One fan wrote: “Proud of you with the silver hair.”

While another agreed, writing: “Stay grey my friend, Stay grey #staygold.”

A third added: “Stay true to the gray!! Looks good on ya.”

One fan however, slagged the Hollywood star for his ageing appearance saying: “You went from looking 45 straight to 70.”

Sly’s not the only screen legend to ditch the hair dye once and for all. Here, Niamh Anderson takes a look at other celebs who went grey gracefully.

Macca appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon rocking his natural roots, after years of dying it chestnut brown.

And Paul looked delighted with his new style, and celeb hairdresser Jo Herald said the music legend should have ditched the dye years ago.

He said: “Ironically his grey hair makes him look about a decade younger.”

JAMES Bond star Pierce decided not to dye another day as he embraced his grey locks back in 2015.

The 66-year-old stepped out with his mother in Malibu, California and sported thick locks of silver tresses.

And fans were quick to gush over Pierce’s new look saying that he looked ‘better than ever.’

The Co Meath actor reportedly ditched his slick raven mane for a movie role and decided to give up the dye for good.

IT’S not unusual for men to dye their hair, but Tom Jones quit the practice back in 2009 before going on tour.

The Sexbomb singer said he regretted covering up his natural locks for so long.

He said: “To each his own. It’s not for me to tell others what to do. But you can’t get to a certain age and have black hair. If some can, bless ’em.

“When I started a new tour, I’d look and think, ’It’s not white enough, a bit patchy’, so I’d dye it again. I should have let it go five years earlier.”

WINNING Streak host Marty let nature take its course some years ago, earning him the title among his legion of female fans as ‘the silver fox’.

The 63-year-old also underwent two hair transplants back in 2012 and 2013 ‘to improve his appearance’.

He said: “You’re conscious that you need to look as best you can when you work in TV.

“When you’re in makeup getting ready to go on a show and you’re conscious of lights and bald patches, you think you’ve gotta sort this out.”

FRIENDS surely did a double take when Matt appeared on US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live! last year sporting grey hair and a matching beard.

The star, 52, looked worlds away from his clean-shaven days playing Joey Tribiani as he showed off his rugged new look.

But he revealed he’d been dying his hair for years — even when he was on the show aged 27.

He said: “It was like the second season of Friends. I started getting gray hair on the sides, so they started dyeing it.”

I’M A Celeb star John Barrowman stunned viewers when he appeared with grey hair following his stint in the jungle last year.

The actor, 52, usually boasts a full head of thick brown hair but has now opted for a “silver-fox” look.

He said: “I just wanted a change. I’ve been dyeing my hair since I’ve been in my twenties. I wanted to go with the silver fox.

But he added: “There have been a couple of people who have said, ‘Oh, go back to the dark hair’.”
